NTPC plans stage II Kolodyne (4 x 115 MW)hydro electric project

NTPC is planning stage II of Kolodyne hydro electric project across river Kolodyne. The project involves construction of a 109 m high concrete dam across Kolodyne river with an installed capacity of 460 MW (4×115 MW) in Lawngtlai/ Saiha districts of Mizoram. Land requirement for the project is around 200 ha which is likely to be private land. In addition to this 3700 ha will be submerged due to construction of the dam across the river and it includes three villages viz. Tuipui Ferry, Vertek Kai and Tuipui. It may also be noted that the river originates from Myanmar and travelling some distance in Mizoram it goes back to Myanmar. EIA report is yet to be made and other statutory clearance are awaited.
